Cabineer Truck Campers are Made with Eco-Friendly Fibres and Cork

Visit the greenery and be green.

Over the past few years, motorhomes, trailers and campers have become more popular, allowing people to get back to nature. It seems counterproductive to go outside in products that actively contribute to its destruction. Cabineer, a German startup, is trying to change this. It offers a sustainable camper that reduces its environmental footprint.

Cabineer’s prototype Camper It is made from natural-fiber composite and is insulated with cork. Although the company could eliminate plastic completely, it still needed to make the resin. The camper’s eco-friendly design does make it lighter, weighing in at just 1,100 pounds (500 kg). It can be easily fitted on a truck chassis of mid-size size, such as the Ford Ranger . Customers won’t have to make too much sacrifices due to the compact size and light weight.

The camper’s hideaway equipment makes it small enough to house both a toilet, and a shower. The kitchen is located in the back of the camper. It has a refrigerator and a dual-burner stove. Cabineer installed a flip-up basin sink, which doubled as an outdoor shower sprayer. The future models will include a floor drain. The dinette can be converted into a small bed or a single person’s bed for one adult or two children. Pop-up roofs can accommodate a double bed and up to three adults.

Cabineer offers a 100-amp-hour battery, which is powered by two solar panels. Despite its compact size, Cabineer has many modern features. The camper also has a 100-liter (26 gallons) freshwater tank, and a 50 liter (13 gallons) gray water tank. The interior has storage areas, including under the bed. Prices start at EUR45,000 (or $54,000 at current exchange rates), and a fully-equipped one will cost EUR84,000 ($100,000.
