Mercedes Concept EQT Introduces As Stylish Electric Van for T-Class Mercedes

It is based largely on the Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric.

Mercedes teased the next generation Citan commercial vehicle and its electric eCitan companion earlier this year. Now it is giving us a preview of its passenger-oriented sibling. The small van, which will be inaugurating the T-Class line-up, will feature a combination of two combustion engines and a pure electric EQT. This concept is shown here.

The van is stylish and sleek with an elegant grille that features many illuminated three-pointed star lights, sharp headlights, a grille frame that lightens up, and a grille frame that we don’t expect to see on the final production model. It also features 21-inch alloy wheels, and possibly the nifty electronic pop out door handles for the front and rear doors.

The zero-emissions van, like the other EQ models has a full-width LED lightbar at the rear. The generously sized tailgate makes cargo easy to move. The rear window, which is large and increases visibility, is similar to the whole greenhouse. A huge panoramic sunroof with a large view should give the cabin a feeling of lightness.

The Mercedes EQT measures 4945 millimeters (195 in) in length, 1863 mm (193 in) in width, and 1826 mm (72) high. The large, leather-wrapped cabin that has the MOX embedded infotainment is big enough to store an electric longboard in its cargo compartment. The third row can be removed or folded to make more space.

The technical specifications of the electric van beyond its physical dimensions are not known. However, we know that the production-ready E-Tech Electric is being twinned to the Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric. Expect an electric motor with 101 horsepower and 181 pound feet (245 Newton-meters) torque, and a 45-kWh pack that can provide 165 miles (265 km) of WLTP-certified range.

Officially revealing the Citan/eCitan as well as the T-Class/EQT will take place later in 2021. A similar Nissan variant will also be revealed.
