Bugatti will continue to replace the rear tires until they are made new.
This recall will not affect the foundations of the automotive industry. It only covers nine vehicles that were sold in the United States. Bugatti After 2,500 miles, cracks can develop and could cause a rapid loss of tire pressure. This is not good for any car, let alone a hypercar of two tons that can handle corners with great speed while handling corners with gusto.
This recall is even more fascinating. The Chiron Pur Sport’s Cup 2 R tires were developed by Bugatti and Michelin. These tires are a massive 355/25-series tire, mounted on 21-inch wheels at their back. As such, there isn’t much choice in styles or brands for replacement. The solution is to replace the rear tires of the Pur Sport after 1,875mi or 1.5 years. Bugatti will continue doing this until a new tire that doesn’t crack is created. The new tires will then be installed. The work is free of charge for Pur Sport owners.
There is no mention in the recall of any failures among production vehicles. Documents associated with the recall state that cracks were found in the rear tires on a Pur Sport test vehicle, but the tires never failed. It is not known what caused the cracks.
