It will introduce a new rear-wheel drive platform.
Mazda will sell the 2023 CX-60 on the Old Continent with a plug in hybrid powertrain that combines a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The SUV will produce more than 300 horsepower and comply with European emissions regulations. The first plug-in hybrid vehicle by the company, it will go down in history. It will be followed by the CX-80 with three rows.
Within the next two-years, both larger SUVs will be available in Europe. The CX-70 in the US will be joined by the three-row CX-90 in the US. It also has a larger body than the CX-80. These products are engineered to accept PHEV powertrains as well as a new line of straight-six gasoline or diesel engines with a mild hybrid setup. Although there is no information about the arrival of larger combustion engines in Europe, Mazda has confirmed that the new SUVs it plans to sell in the US will include them. The four models will be riding on a new rear-wheel-drive platform, although this has not been confirmed by Mazda.
