The walls are made of blocks of ice and have a large bed.
Camakuruma, a Japanese camper design, is adorable. The interior looks like stacked blocks made of ice and can be used to pretend that you’re in an igloo. The name actually combines the Japanese words for igloo and car (kamakura), Camakuruma is a joint venture of the Hoshino Resort Alz Bandai and Camping Car Co. and the Toyota Development and Prototype Department. The Robinson 771 compact camping camper is the starting point of the concept. It uses a Toyota HiAce as its platform. Although the vehicle appears normal from the outside, the interior is what makes it special.
Hoshino Resort Alz Bandai, a ski resort is situated at the foot Mount Bandai. Camakuruma was created to allow people to experience snow even while they rest. Toyota’s 2.5D printing technology is used to create the texture on the camper’s interior that looks like stacked blocks made of ice.
The rest of the interior styling is handled by the Nippon Design Center, which maintains the wintery look. Except for the tiles at the sink and a few pillows, the cabin is monochromatic. The bed is a wall-to-wall design with a Escargot camping pad underneath. Large windows are located on both sides of the interior. One is also located in the alcove above driver’s cockpit. Although there isn’t a kitchenette or bathroom, the occupants can use the sink. To entertain those in bed, a TV is mounted against the wall. Camakuruma is a concept. The vehicle will be used by the Hoshino Resort, Alz Bandai to promote their camper rental program. This is for those who prefer an outdoor experience on their ski trip. These models are regular motorhomes that don’t look like ice blocks and have no walls.
