After an unusual pursuit, she was arrested for being too drunk to fly.
Here’s the deal. This incident occurred in April according to WKMG news 6. Chelsea Alston, a woman identified as Chelsea, was travelling from Orlando to New York with Southwest Airlines. She was denied entry by a gate agent for being too drunk. The woman was apparently not happy about this and Orlando Police Officer Andrew Mamone arrived on his bicycle to help. This is where the bodycam footage (shown at the top) of the incident begins. This is also where the bizarre and sometimes comical pursuit begins. Alston curses while she drives away on her electrified suitcase. Officier Mamone even remarks that it is quite fast.
“We’re going to have a bike following a suitcase in a moment,” he says on the video. It’s going to be crazy. Mamone follows Alston on a tram, and then escorts him off before the tram leaves. After a while, he tries to get her to the security checkpoint. She doesn’t have a valid boarding card. After she spit on him, he offers to race her to the general terminal. Alston is seen being taken out of the airport and put into a waiting car by police officers. WKMG news 6 reports Alston damaged the car further once it was inside. She tore up the headliner, and then, um, went number two in the backseat. She could be sentenced to up to 10 years imprisonment if she is found guilty. Yikes. There’s some comedy in this episode, but tensions are high around the globe. Although it was unfortunate that this episode ended, at least no one was hurt. Let’s just all relax, take some motorized luggage, and have some good times. We can all get along.
