2020 Corvette C8 Roadster rendering has us weak in the knees

Sharp is the widebody design.

Coronavirus has stopped production of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. However, new creations continue to emerge daily from the creative minds and rendering artists. We were captivated by two Corvettes made by Car MStyle Design, which we hope you will also enjoy the gallery. The above image of a C8 roadster with a roofless C8 engine has no doubt piqued interest. It certainly did our interest.

This is a great opportunity to discuss the definition of roadster or, rather, how it used to be defined. Automakers love to call anything with a removable roof a roadster. It’s because roadster sounds better than convertible. Roadster was once a term that meant a car without a roof. It was completely open to the elements at all times, which is why the C8 above is a true Roadster.

The windshield can also be removed, taking some cues from the Mercedes SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. Although the car appears to be still mid-engined, we cannot deny that the car’s flamboyant hood suggests there may be an engine at the front. Although Chevrolet wouldn’t, ever make such a car from the factory, we would love to see it come to life as SEMA project. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen.

The gallery below shows another custom C8 that we might see. This Chevrolet mid-engine model has a windshield and roof. It also gets a wider body kit that gives it a more intimidating look. This is a telling sign about the C8’s basic design. The widebody treatment doesn’t make it any different from a Corvette standard. Although there is more flair to the fenders the C8 is still a big car from the factory. These widebody renderings prove that the ‘Vette is open to customization and a great platform for building.

This is where Motor1.com readers will be asked the inevitable question. Which of these non-real C8s would be better in your garage? You could answer neither, or go on a rant about renderings being stupid. In which case, try to be as creative and inspiring as these custom Corvettes. You can choose to be a roofless wonder or a widebody racer.
