It will be the last A4.

The next-generation Audi A4 may be one of the most secretive in the automotive industry. Although we have only seen two prototypes on public roads (see related links below),, they were sufficient for Motor.es to create a virtual preview of the compact executive model. This is their result. Below is all we know so far about the new A4.

Early rumors suggested that the A4 might switch to MQB, which would have saved $1 billion in development costs. The plan was scrapped, and the A4 will continue to use the MLB platform, which will mean it will feature longitudinally mounted engines. The most important thing is that the new generation will not feature any combustion engines.

Many manufacturers have abandoned the diesel engine. The new A4 will feature a range of gasoline engines and diesel engines. It almost certainly has some form of electrification. Although the new model will not have an exhaust pipe, a fully electric version is possible. Audi’s head for technical development stated in October that the A4 EV would be built on the PPE platform if production is approved.

There is little reason to believe that the design of the new A4 will be a significant departure from the current car. We expect that the A4’s exterior design will be a more substantial facelift than a new design language, as shown in this rendering.

Although it’s hard to predict when the 2023 Audi A4 is going to debut, we do know that it will be available until the end of the decade. Based on the current situation regarding the chip shortage, and other factors, we expect a debut in late 2022. Sales and production will likely begin in the first half.
