2021 Honda Insight adds more standard safety kit to higher trims

A new exterior color is also available!

Two years ago, Honda unveiled a completely new Insight hybrid at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The Honda hybrid’s new design was inspired by the larger Honda Accord, and the smaller Honda Civic – the two models it shares with in Honda’s lineup. Honda has made some changes to the Insight for the 2021 model year. The higher trims will now come with new safety features. Tomorrow marks the start of the 2021 Honda Insight’s new update.

The Honda Insight EX, Touring and Touring have the new safety tech of blind-spot monitoring or cross-traffic alert. The 8-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Cross-Traffic Alert remains. The Touring trim gets leather seats, navigation, 8-way power driver’s chair, and dual-zone automatic climate controls

The 2021 Honda Insight is available in three trims: LX, EX and Touring. All Insights are equipped with LED headlights and Honda Sensing, the automaker’s safety technology suite, as well as push-button starting. Honda Insight was also awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ rating for 2020.

Price increases are due to the Insight’s safety technology and two top trims. They are $500 more than the 2020 model. The price of the entry-level Insight LX remains the same at $23,885 (includes the $995 destination fee). The EX is priced at $25,765, and the Touring starts at $29,795.

Insight’s 1.5-liter gasoline engine produces the same 151 horsepower (112 Kilowatts) as before. It also has an electric propulsion motor (and lithium-ion batteries) that produce 197 pound-feet (267 Newton meters) of torque. This setup allows the hybrid’s city-returning mileage to be as high as 55 MPG. Radian Red Metallic is a new exterior color for the Insight.
