Toyota Corolla Sedan Getting Sporty Apex Edition Package: Report

Why should hatchbacks be all fun and games?

It is no secret that Toyota has plans for its Corolla. The GR Yaris was first announced in Asia and Europe earlier this year. Toyota strongly hinted that a hot hatch would be coming to America. Despite rumors and leaked information, Toyota continues to tease a GR Corolla with the turbocharged 257-horsepower (192-kilowatts) engine from the hot Yaris. However, a new rumor suggests that not all the fun will be limited to hatchbacks.

The Apex Sport Package is a new sporty upgrade to the Corolla sedan that Toyota is offering this summer. It may not be as exciting as you think. Car and Driver report that this package will be primarily an exterior package. The core of this project is said to be sticky summer tires, fittingly named Apex. Other trim enhancements and body modifications will be added to give the vehicle a sporty look. The sedan will only be available in the SE and XSE trims.

Toyota Corolla Sedan Getting Sporty Apex Edition Package: Report

It’s a great idea to offer it on the hatchback. Toyota has just unveiled the Hatchback special edition, a sporty appearance package. The hatch comes with black 18-inch wheels, black trim and a small body kit, including a front splitter, side skirts and roof spoiler. It wouldn’t surprise to see the Apex Edition sedan with its splitter and side skirts, as well as a decklid spoiler.

Toyota did not provide any information when we inquired about the Apex Edition. However, as with previous teasers, we were informed that there would be more Corolla news. Although a sporty Corolla sedan sounds delicious, we are actually still waiting patiently for the GR Corolla rally racer that’s almost guaranteed at this point.
