It has a lot of story to it.

This 1969 Blue Bird Wanderlodge RV is available for bidding online .

The story of this Wanderlodge is quite interesting. The RV was ordered by Stroehmann Brothers Pennsylvania Dutch Bakeries to have a unique floorplan. It featured a twin dinette and refrigerator, a stand-alone freezer, two 60-gallon-water tanks, two 60-gallon-water tanks, two 60-gallon-water tanks, two 60-gallon-water storage containers, and two twin beds at the back. This cost $48,000 in 1968. It is equivalent to $369,412 in 2021, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator.

After the 1969 delivery, the company’s shareholders weren’t happy with this large expenditure. The business was forced to sell the RV. According to the auction listing, the next owner of the Wanderlodge kept it for many decades. He also took it to the Daytona 500 each year between 1970 and 1999. It is now being sold by its third owner.

The interior is largely unchanged, with the exception of modern LED lighting and quality-of-life enhancements. It now boasts a Coleman HVAC unit and a 6.5-kilowatt Onan Generator. In 2009 and 2010, the exterior was stripped to the bare metal and the body was repainted.

It conjures up feelings of nostalgia with its interior design. It is easy to imagine yourself driving down Interstate and seeing vehicles from the 1970s or ’80s passing by the large windows.

The Ford V8 is 391 cubic inches (6.4-liter) in power and has a six-speed manual transmission.

The auction closes May 26. The Wanderlodge is currently closed to bidding. It starts at $20,000. It starts at $20,000.
