Future Porsche Taycan GTS and Sport Turismo Models Evidenced

Porsche is known for offering a wide range of trims.

Since September 2019, rumors about the possibility that Porsche will expand the Taycan range have been simmering ever since the automaker unveiled the model. There has been speculation since September 2019 that the company was working on a Sport Turismo version. New evidence suggests that such a model will be available, as well as a GTS version.

A keen-eyed car buyer saw two models that the company had yet to announce on the salesman’s computer screen – the Sport Turismo GTS (and the Taycan GTS). The information was quickly uploaded to TaycanForum. However, the information has since been deleted. It’s unlikely that the information will be removed from the internet once it has. It’s not surprising that the Sport Turismo model was captured in spy photos while it was being tested alongside its high-riding Taycan Cross Turismo brother.

The GTS trim is the most recent information. Although there have been no rumors about such a model, it is in line with the Taycan lineup. The Taycan is currently available in four trims: Turbo S, Turbo S, Turbo 4S, Turbo S, Turbo S, and base. Gran Turismo Sport is the GTS variant. It is more track-oriented and focuses on weight reduction and improving handling performance. InsideEVs.com points out that the GTS’s aero bits will reduce its handling, but other Taycan models are available if you need more range.

Porsche has not yet revealed when either model will be introduced, but it feels appropriate to announce it for the model year 2022. The brand seems to have no choice but to introduce a Sport Turismo model – it is a Cross Turismo with lower suspension and less cladding. It is not clear if this wagon-like model will make it to America. These new trims are not the only Taycan options coming down the pipe. The company also considers a coupe or convertible version.
