We received confirmation from Ford that the successor to the obsolete Fusion was being developed about 24 hours ago. Although the Fusion is still available on the Old continent, it will be retired in less that a year. However, a batch containing new spy photos taken in Germany strongly suggests that a successor is in development.
Spy shots revealed that the model looks very similar to the Evos, particularly at the front. However, there are major differences at its back. The prototype was very similar to the Mondeo hatchback’s sedan, and it looked almost identical in its shape. This is good news for those who love SUVs or crossovers.
The designer KDesign has created a detailed rendering of the Fusion / Mondeo’s successor based on spy photos. We are excited about the new Blue oval product based on what we have seen. It looks fresh in an era where high-riding, tacky vehicles dominate the charts around the globe.
The renderings were based on the European Mondeo. We are happy with the lower vehicle’s stance than what we saw in spy photos. While there will be many differences between renderings and actual cars, we can at least see what can be expected.
Ford has a large range of vehicles, including trucks, crossovers and SUVs. It’s nice to see that Ford is still interested in customers who prefer something more traditional, but are able to park lower on the road. Although initial reports of the Fusion / Mondeo successor suggested a Subaru Outback-rivaling high riding wagon, Ford may have altered its plans. We’ll see.
