Bugatti La Voiture Noire Final Edition: This Is the $13.4M Hypercar

It retained six of the showcar’s exhaust tips.

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire has become the most expensive car in the world thanks to the $28-million Rolls Royce Boat Tail. Despite this, Molsheim’s all black W16 hypercar is still impressive. Especially now that the production version of it has been revealed. Although “production” may be an exaggeration, there is only one. Price? It was purchased by someone for EUR11 million (or $13.4M at current exchange rates). This includes taxes.

The Black Car, a modern-day version of Jean Bugatti’s Type 57 SC Atlantic, took two years to create. The unique Chiron-based creation has required 65,000 engineering hours to complete. It features a completely custom bodywork and an extended wheelbase. Yes, six exhaust tips remain, dominating the car’s impressive rear end.

The distance between the wheels has increased 250 millimeters (9.8 in) when compared to a regular Chiron, and the overall length has increased 450 mm (17.7in). One-of-a-kind LVNs feature a unique body with visible carbon fibre surfaces and a clearcoat called black carbon glossy. Bugatti claims that the special finish creates “nearly no reflections” and adds tension and drama.

There are also the headlights with over 25 individual milled elements per cluster. Bugatti admitted that it was a lot of work, even for a single project like the La Voiture Noire. The front grille was 3D-printed, while the ultra-wide LED strip at the rear boasts an all-one surround with no joints. This is a Bugatti first.

Unfortunately, the photo gallery doesn’t contain images of the interior. However, we know that there is Havana Brown grain leather upholstery. The center console and door cards are decorated with polished and turned aluminum inlays. A rosewood switch lets the lucky owner choose between different driving modes.

Bugatti says that the La Voiture Noire was more than a Chiron in new clothes. Other than the extended wheelbase, other modifications were made. The LVN is a different car with different wheels and cooling, but the car’s character is closer to a grand tourer. It was tested in the wind tunnel, on test benches, and out in the open at different speeds on test tracks and proving ground, much like a regular production Chiron.

Last note: parent company Volkswagen Group has already revealed Bugatti will unveil an updated car in 2021. It is believed to be a Chiron roadster. However, nothing is confirmed.
