Bentley Continental GT3 Pikes Peak Has Over 750 HP And Huge Wing

The goal is to establish a class record.

The crew is getting ready to race the Bentley Continental GT3 at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. They also have some information about the racer in advance of the event, which will take place on June 27. The goal is to break the Time Attack 1 record.

A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is used in the Continental GT3. It runs on renewable fuel. The engine produces over 750 horsepower (550 kilowatts) as well as 738 pound-feet (1,099 Newton-meters) torque. The team is promising to increase the power for the hill climb.

New connecting rods and pistons are some of the improvements over the stock unit. Turbos are larger and run at 31.9 PSI (2.2 bar) boost. Carbon fiber is used for the intake manifold. The unique Akrapovic exhaust is 3d-printed Inconel and exits behind the front wheels.

The team also added a secondary cooling system to the rear, which included a dedicated water pump. The backup radiator is supplied with air by ducts located in the area where the rear windows are normally found.

The engine uses 98-RON Renewable Race Fuel. It is a mixture of advanced biofuels, specifically designed for motorsport.

The transmission works the same way as in the Continental GT3 race car. The driveshaft is larger to ensure greater durability.

The Pikes-Peak-prepped Continental GT3 has 30% more downforce than the standard specification. Bentley claims this includes the largest rear wings ever made for a competition machine. A new rear diffuser is also available. A front splitter has a two-plane design and dive planes.

Three-time Pikes Peak champion Rhys Millen was hired by Bentley to drive the Continental GT3 on the hill climb. After driving the Bentayga in 2018, and Continental GT, he has previous experience with the brand. He must complete the course in under 9 minutes and 36 seconds to set the Time Attack 1 class record.
