2022 Toyota Tundra Leaked Images Lead To Official Reveal [UPDATE]

There is not much to hide at the moment.

Toyota launched a teaser campaign in May to promote its long-awaited Tundra pickup trucks. Since then we’ve only seen a handful of small details, the latest being a super-short video that showed a generic engine cover . It is hard to believe that Toyota may be increasing its teaser campaign after the numerous images purporting to show the entire Toyota Tundra-engine-teaser/ have been published.

Tundras.com is cramming through a collection of images from Tibetan Nomad. He claims that they were shared in the TundraCrew Facebook group. Toyota sent a dealer communication on June 17 with a preview image of the 2022 Tundra. Someone on the other side of that screen took a few photos and uploaded them to their private Facebook group. Although it’s possible that this was a clever ruse, there are no reasons to believe otherwise.

These images show the TRD Pro version with a more refined look. The chrome grille light bar and three orange markers match the official teaser images. Additionally, the L-shaped headlights match what we have previously seen. TRD Pro’s bold stamping on the tailgate matches current industry trends. However, if we look closely at the gate, we can see what appears to be camera eyes flanking its grab handle high up. It’s hard to imagine Toyota not equipping its first all-new Tundra with decent tech in 15 year.

The engine teaser confirms rumors of a twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 under the hood. Although rumors have also suggested a hybrid powertrain, Toyota has already confirmed that the new Tundra’s base engine is more powerful than the current 5.7 liter V8. The next-generation Tundra should not be lacking power as the thirsty engine produces 381 horsepower (284 megawatts).

It’s only a matter of when Toyota will reveal it officially at this stage. According to an insider, it would reveal its cover in late 2018, but evidence from the recent teaser campaign, and the apparent reveal to dealers suggests that a real debut may be imminent.
