The wings, carbon fiber and 800 horsepower.
A 640-horsepower Porsche 911 Turbo S is the ideal starting point for any aftermarket upgrade. TechArt’s latest project was in prototype form. We were able to test it on the streets using some crazy add-ons last May. We now have complete disclosure and plenty of power to make the aesthetic changes. The new TechArt GTstreet R is here in all its glory.
The obvious question will be answered immediately. TechArt offers two power upgrades for GTstreet R. The largest is 800 hp (597kW) and 701 lb (950 Newton-meters). The GTstreet R is equipped with upgraded turbochargers and upgraded exhaust. A heavy tune completes the package. TechArt does not talk about 0-60 and quarter-mile times. However, the GTstreet R fully-upgraded can reach 217 mph flat out – 12 more than a standard Turbo S. TechArt also offers a gentle package that increases power to 700 horsepower (522 kW).
TechArt offers two options for suspension upgrades. The sport suspension package includes stiffer springs and a 1-inch drop around. However, the second option offers adjustable coilovers that can be adjusted for a 1-inch drop. TechArt promises that a third option, a fully adjustable suspension, will be available for Clubsport Packages in the future. The aero package increases the GTstreet R’s frontal stance by an inch regardless of suspension.
Bolt-ons are more than just for looks. Carbon fiber body kit features new fascias front, rear, boot lid, side skirts, and a massive, race-inspired rear wings. The roof spoiler helps to move air where it is most needed. Even the center-lock wheels are equipped with carbon fiber discs around their wheel lip, which allows for more airflow and lighter weight. The GTstreet R produces four times the downforce at 87 mph than the 911’s rearside, and reduces lift at the front by 45 per cent. This was achieved after extensive fine-tuning in wind tunnel.
Of course, one can’t have a wild TechArt 911 without interior upgrades. On that front the tuning company is less specific, primarily because the sky is pretty much the limit. GTstreet R buyers can pick and choose from a wide variety of materials, not the least of which being leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber. TechArt branding is plugged in throughout the greenhouse including the seats, door sills, door panels, dash, steering wheel, and even the floormats. Suffice it to say, you won’t forget which Porsche You jumped in for a quick trip to the coffee shop.
TechArt claims that the GTStreet R update begins at EUR73,000, which is equivalent to $86,610 at current conversion rates. The GTstreet R, which will be quite expensive considering the 911 Turbo S’s starting price of around $200,000, will also be very rare. Production is limited to 87 models.
