From a production perspective, it hasn’t been an easy journey for the C8 Corvette. The reborn sports car was delayed by a long UAW strike, then came 2020 and its plague-ravaged landscape. General Motors has closed its order banks for 2021 Vettes due to parts shortages in 2021.

Since January , Corvette production has been stopped numerous times. Another temporary production shutdown was caused by a shortage of transmission parts in March. The Corvette’s Kentucky facility was shut down in May. It’s not clear how many 2021 Corvettes will see the light of the day at this time. 2020 production was only half the 40,000 units that GM originally planned due to COVID issues. Although we don’t anticipate 2021 models being cut as deeply, it will be interesting seeing how the first two years C8 production compare.
