The livestream begins at 12PM Eastern/4 PM GMT.
VW revealed many details during the build-up for the world premiere. This included the availability of a Plug-in hybrid powertrain With an unknown electric range. The new Multivan will only come with an automatic transmission, shift-by-wire type. An electric parking brake will also be available to make the cabin more spacious.
The Multivan’s third row now features individual seats. It also has a table that is placed on a track system, which allows users to move it forward or aft. To create a face-toface seating arrangement, the second-row seats can rotate 180 degrees. The lighter seats in the third and fourth rows can also be removed to make a large cargo area.
The T7’s first feature is the panoramic sunroof. This will not only make the cabin feel more spacious, but it will also increase headroom. The new Multivan will have more legroom and shoulder space, as VW has already announced that it will feature a longer wheelbase with wider tracks. To emphasize the fact that it will combine the best of both a minivan and a car, teasers show a golf-like dual-screen setup.
Keep in mind that we will only see the Multivan version of the vehicle today. The T6.1-based Transporter will continue to be available for a while. VW’s partnership with Ford will likely result in the replacement of this workhorse later in the decade. The all-electric ID buzz will be available in Europe in 2020, before making its way to the United States in 2023. An cargo derivative to the zero-emissions model has also been planned, but it is only for the Old Continent.
