Lamborghini has already sold most of its production capacity for 2021

Interview with CEO Winkelmann: Some good news.

reported that the VW Group received an offer to buy Lamborghini from a Swiss investment firm. This could be because the Sant’Agata Bolognese carmaker is growing more rapidly than ever.

Lamborghini stated that the marque is almost sold out for 2021 with only 10 months left of its production capacity. This is according to Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of the marque, in an interview at Milano Monza’s auto show. Report by Automotive News.

Winkelmann stated that Lamborghini was poised for strong growth in 2021, a bold claim considering we haven’t even reached the second half of this year. The brand’s strong sales numbers are due to consumers spending freely in the face of pandemic lockdowns, according to the automaker.

Lamborghini finished 2020 as the second-best year in its history. This is despite the fact that Lamborghini’s factory was closed for two months due to the coronavirus epidemic. According to the A report, Lamborghini deliveries increased by nearly 25 percent in the first quarter 2021.

The success of the Urus SUV is a large part of its success. However, we all know that the Italian marque will be heading towards electrification as was announced in May.

In order to electrify its product range, Lamborghini will invest EUR1.5 billion (or $183B at current exchange rate) over the next four year. This includes hybrid versions of the Huracan and Aventador as well as the Urus SUV by 2025.

The company will launch the first series production hybrid following the limited-run Lamborghini Sian. Lamborghini, for purists vows that performance will be its “absolute priority”, despite electrification.

It is not yet clear if this strategy will work in terms of sales, but 2021 would be a benchmark for success for the automaker.
