Suzuki Jimny Light Would Make A Great Baseline for A Rugged Off-Roader

However, the US is not yet on its agenda.

The Suzuki Jimny is a compact, affordable car that’s both stylish and boxy. Suzuki is excited to announce the arrival of the Suzuki Jimny Lite.

The Jimny Lite has been confirmed only for Australia, and there is no confirmation or news that it will be available in other markets. It is still a prohibited fruit for American car buyers, just like the regular version.

The Jimny Lite is stripped-down to the essentials. It only has projector halogens with no fog lamps and textured side mirror covers. Also, it comes with black 15-inch steel wheels. The Jimny Lite has manual climate control, a basic in-dash radio/CD and Bluetooth connectivity. The basic features of the Jimny Lite would make it a good base for an offroader and allow for aftermarket modifications.

The Jimny Lite’s standard 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine and 4×4 configuration are still available under the hood. The new variant can only be ordered with a manual transmission.

Suzuki Australia claims that the Jimny was designed to satisfy the “increasingly overwhelming” demand for their most desired vehicle.

This is not surprising considering the fact that demand in India for the Jimny exceeds the Japanese production capacity in 2018, according to the automaker. Suzuki needed to find another source of production for the Jimny in India, as a result.

A five-door version, the Suzuki Jimny Long, of the small off-roader is expected to arrive in 2022. It will be powered by turbo power. Although global availability is not known at the moment, we are willing to wager a year’s salary that it won’t be coming to the US. At least, not yet.
