Amazing DIY ProMaster Camper Van is Literally a Home on Wheels

This is a comfortable, full-time home for two people and their two dogs.

It’s not for everyone to give up their home in order to live on the road full-time. While it is possible to consolidate into a large RV, this couple decided to move into a Ram ProMaster cargo vehicle that was empty inside. They transformed this van from a work vehicle into one of our favorite, most comfortable, and best-equipped small campers. It’s not even an RV. It’s a home straight from the heart.

Brandon and Sarah are joined by their dogs, Sarah and the ProMaster 3500 that they call home. The couple, who recently appeared on Tiny Home Tours were able to show off their impressive mini-RV by building it from scratch. This is how we mean it. Their Instagram page documents the entire build from the floors up to the insulation and wiring. The ceiling is made of quarter-inch plywood and stained cedar. All cabinets were custom-built. The platform bed conceals a large garage beneath. The Ram’s original front seats were replaced with swivel chairs. This makes the van part of the living space.

Is this van equipped with all the amenities you would expect from a large motorhome. A three-burner propane stove, large sink and 12-volt refrigerator are the kitchen’s main features. All counter space is located on top, even the stove’s top which can be stowed for cooking. The driver’s seat can be angled to meet the kitchen table to create a cozy dining area. The table can also retract to the floor to make a small sofa that faces the sliding doors and any heavenly views.

Further back, you’ll find a large closet next to the refrigerator. The door serves a secondary function to give privacy to both the bedroom and the cassette toilet, which slides out from underneath the bed. The bed is a full-length bed that spans the entire width of the van. It’s elevated so it can be used as “garage” storage. There you will find the propane tank and the water tank for the van, which hold 40 gallons. This is also where you’ll find the shower, although technically it’s an exterior shower with rear doors and privacy curtains.

A 350 Amp-hour lithium-ion battery provides electricity. 600 watts solar power keeps the roof’s roof topped with enough energy to generate electricity. The video shows that the solar juice is sufficient to keep the battery almost full. However, this van doesn’t have higher-draw items such as a roof air conditioner. Vanlife is a great way to get around if it gets too hot.

Although such living isn’t for everyone Brandon and Sarah’s home on wheels and their website LivingInAdvance have us reconsidering going mobile.
