Rolls-Royce Spied Benchmarking Cullinan Against Range Rover

The SUV also has snow chains on its rear wheels.

Although the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is close to its official debut, the British brand hasn’t stopped testing it. These spy photos show the brand’s SUV in snow chains while it undergoes cold-weather testing. Rolls also owns a Land Rover Ranger Rover to benchmark.

Even with camouflage covering its body, the Cullinan is imposing. The Cullinan has a high hood that is heavily chiseled. The model’s angular appearance is enhanced by the rectangular headlights. This boxy design is made more apparent in the profile, where there is a high roof to accommodate the large passenger compartment. A coach door will open wide to allow for opulent entry at any event.

Spy shots inside reveal that the Cullinan seems to have elements in common with the Phantom. The cabin layout appears to be identical with the large infotainment screen dominating in the middle stack. The upholstery and trim options are virtually limitless.

The Cullinan will be built on the same foundations as the Phantom and use the same biturbo 6.75-liter engine. Although the SUV will be able to drive off-road, it won’t likely have all-wheel-drive. This SUV is more for luxurious cruising than rock crawling and pounding over dunes.

Rolls has not yet set a date for Cullinan’s public debut, but there is speculation that it will be in the summer. The company plans to reveal the SUV to wealthy clients behind closed doors. The luxury model will compete with the Range Rover SVAutobiography, and the Bentley Bentayga once it is on the road.
