The world of scale race car models is being redefined.
Amalgam scale model masters have revealed a special 1:18 scale Ferrari SF1000 as part of the 2021 F1 Season. The replica is not only a dismal car from last year, but it also features the unique livery of the 2020 Gran Premio Della Toscana at Mugello circuit – the 1,000th race for Scuderia.
The car is available with burgundy paintwork, instead of the iconic red. Rosso Corsa red. It is a fitting choice, since the color honors the 125 S, the first car to win an F1 race for the Italian racing company. Alberto Ascari won the world championship in only one season after his first win in 1950.
Sandy Copeman (Amalgam’s brand director) said, “It is an honour and pleasure for everybody at Amalgam be replicating such a iconic car, Ferrari.” “Ferrari shares our passion for excellence and attention to detail.
This model is not your typical scale model you’ll find at your local hardware store. It costs $9,096 or EUR7,633 at current exchange rate. Scuderia Ferrari was involved in the approval of the paint finish as well as the CAD design. To ensure continuity between the model car and the actual race car, engineers from the Italian F1 team were assigned.
We can’t forget that this was the 1,000th Scuderia contest. Charles Leclerc finished in 10th and 10th respectively, with Lewis Hamilton winning the Grand Prix. The results are not a reflection of semantics. They do not diminish one of the most legendary teams in Formula 1, which has won more than 10 world championships.
