Maximum torque for the most powerful version is 1,622 pound feet (2.200 Newton meters).
Mercedes-Benz has proudly introduced the all-new Tourismo RHD after a significant investment of around EUR400 million ($447M). It is better than its predecessor in almost every way. This includes a significant drop in fuel consumption of 4.5 percent, which will lead to substantial savings. This was possible because of the lighter, more aerodynamic body. Eco Driver Feedback and Predictive Powertrain Controller can help reduce fuel consumption by up to seven percent.
The first system uses GPS to detect the road ahead and determine the best powertrain modifications to reduce fuel consumption. The Eco Driver Feedback optionally analyzes your driving style and makes suggestions to reduce fuel consumption.
The 2017 Tourismo RHD’s green credentials are not all that important. It is also one of the most safe vehicles in its class due to its multitude of systems including attention assist, emergency brake assist, and stop assist for traffic stop & go. The vehicle also features “Front Collision Guard”, which protects both driver and co-driver from any impact.
In the video below, you can see a transverse section that acts as an underride protector and behind it crash elements capable of absorbing the energy in the event of a collision. The solid frame section on which the seat, guard and steering are mounted will allow for a slideback in the unfortunate event that there is a frontal collision. This reduces the risk of serious injuries.
There will be four models of the high-decker, each with a different length. And for the first time ever in vehicle history, they are all designed for left- or right-hand drive configurations. Two cockpits are available, with a multifunction steering wheel and a redesigned instrument cluster. The Comfort Plus cockpit boasts Mercedes’ “Coach Multimedia System”, which includes all controls necessary for entertainment. It is easy to use a variety functions such as the Bluetooth module and standard navigation system.
The coach comes with everything you could want in a touring coach. It also includes an optional router that grants Wi-Fi access to those who are seated inside. The new air conditioning system has been upgraded and it can be fitted with an integrated kitchen. The buyer can choose from a wide range of fabrics for the side walls, curtain, and seat covers. There are also many flooring options and colors available (including Viper Green Metallic or Platinum Silver Metallic).
A trio of six-cylinder inline engines with 10.7 liters displacement will be available. They are available in three flavors: 360 HP (265 kW), 394 HP (290 kW) and 428 Hp (315kW). These new engines will produce 456 horsepower (335 kW), 2,200 Nm (1.622 lbft) and an impressive 4,285 hp (335kW). A new 7.7-liter inline six with two turbochargers produces 354 horsepower (260 kW) as well as 1,400 Nm (1.032 lbft). There are three gearbox options: a 6-speed manual, an 8-speed automatic, or a ZF Ecolife torque converter transmission.
Mercedes hopes that the 2017 Tourismo RHD will build on the success of the predecessor. It was sold in approximately 26,000 units throughout its long life cycle. The company has a market share of around 20%, with 2,000 of them being delivered in the last year.
