Ford pickups such as the Raptor are a big draw.

The Ford Bronco wants to profit from the Jeep Wrangler’s success. Both are positioned as off-road warriors by the automakers with removable doors, roofs and a variety of accessories. It would seem that the automakers would be battling each other like never before. Ford is the most popular brand in Jeep sales, and this is before the 2021 Bronco comes out.

This little bit of information was hidden in a recent investor presentation by the Dearborn-based automaker. Our colleagues at MuscleCars and Trucks found it. Slide six announced that Ford was the top-selling brand in cross-shopping for Jeep. Esteban Plaza-Jennings is the Bronco’s Marketing Manager. He stated that Ford offers some of the “rugged, offroad capable vehicles” customers want, even though they are more inclined to trucks.

Plaza-Jennings referred to the Raptor as well as the Tremor and FX4 Ford Performance goodies for models such the Ranger to explain why customers shop both brands. This number will likely rise with the release of the 2021 Bronco next year. Ford placed the Bronco’s off-road capabilities in the forefront of development. This was in an effort to compete with the Jeep Wrangler, which has a loyal off-road fanbase.

The Wrangler is an enthusiast vehicle, which accounts for part of the rabidity. Ford has placed the Bronco in the exact same light. It offers a robust aftermarket that allows for endless customization. Ford will offer more than 200 factory-backed accessories that customers can buy and roll into the price of the SUV’s two- and four door models. The Sasquatch package is a must-have!

With the Bronco’s debut, more people will be comparing Ford to Jeep. This should help Ford cement its position as the most cross-shopped brand. Customers will be keen to compare off-road performances of both brands, including suspension travel, ground clearance and horsepower.
