2022 VW Tiguan Allspace Teaser: A Refreshed 7-Seat SUV

2022 VW Tiguan Allspace Teaser: A Refreshed 7-Seat SUV

All details will be made public on May 12.

Technically, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has already been seen. The refreshed SUV was shown last summer with styling cues taken from the current-generation golf. The interior was also given a major makeover, except for the five-passenger model which is not available in the States. The long version, also known as the Tiguan L and Tiguan Allspace elsewhere, is the only one available.

We don’t expect anything different. The Tiguan teaser shows the same taillights and body lines as the shorter model. As the Allspace is nearly nine inches longer to allow for an optional third row, the profile is a little different. The teaser states that the Allspace can hold up to 67.8 cubic yards of cargo space and that the Tiguan Allspace received the “same treatment” as its smaller counterpart. We don’t expect any surprises based on what we have already seen.

The interior will be updated with a new multi-function steering knob and redesigned center stack. You can choose between an 8-inch and 10-inch touchscreen for the updated infotainment system. It will also run VW’s new MIB3 system, which allows you to access a wide range of online-based services. The updated Tiguan gets new assist and control systems as part the new Safety Suite. It includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assistance, but it remains to be determined if they are available as an option or standard equipment in the Allspace.

VW will launch the 2022 Tiguan Allspace globally on May 12, completing the introduction of the entire Tiguan range. The larger SUV will be produced primarily in Mexico. It will supply markets in North America and South America as well as Europe. Shanghai will build the Tiguan L version to cater for the Chinese market.
