Porsche 911 Turbo S is a powerful 641-horsepower beast.
Although there are many sports cars available on the market, they are not all equally good. Throttle House’s latest YouTube video shows this by racing four models. These four models are the Chevy Corvette Stingray and Nissan GT-R Niso Special Edition, Acura NSX Type S and Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Throttle House splits the formidable quartet into two separate heats. First, the Corvette and GTR face off before the TurboS takes on the winner.
The Nissan GT-R Nismo special edition is the most powerful of the trio. The twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter V6 produces 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts), and 481 pound feet (652 Newton-meters), of torque. With a twin-turbo hybrid V6 of 3.5-liters, the NSX is worthy competition. It generates 600 horsepower and 492 lb.ft (667 Nm) torque.
These two cars are paired together by the Corvette Stingray (3.669 kW) as well as the 911 Turbo S (495 hp). The 911 Turbo S produces 470 lb/ft (667 Nm), and 495 HP (369 kW) from its naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8. The Porsche, with its twin-turbocharged flat-six 3.8-liter 3.8-liter produces 641 horsepower (477 kW) as well as 590 lbft (800 Nm).
In the first-heat races, the GT-R beats the Corvette as well as the NSX. This puts the GT-R in direct competition with the Turbo S, which is much more powerful than the GT-R. To reduce its weight, the Porsche also removed its rear seats, giving it an advantage that it can use. In standing-start and rolling races, the Turbo S beat the GT-R. The GT-R is fast, but the Turbo S is faster.
Drag racing revealed that the four cars had significant differences in performance, but also that there was a large price difference between them. Although the Corvette was the slowest, it was also the most affordable. We know that hotter versions of the Corvette are on the way, including the 670 horsepower (500-kW), Z06, which should be a warning to its more expensive rivals.
