It is still many months before a debut.
Although the official debut of the next-generation Audi A4 may be months away, spy photographers continue to capture it while we test it. The new model will be available in both sedan and wagon versions. Audi will then transition the model to an electric vehicle (EV) at the end of this decade. These new photos show the A4 Avant.
Although the rear appears like a wagon it is not equipped with Audi’s production taillights. Stand-in units are used instead to poke through the camouflage of a typical wagon rear end. The lower bumper is adorned with two unfinished exhaust pipes that protrude from the bottom, suggesting something sporty beneath the hood.
While the revamped Audi will still use gasoline and diesel engines , these will be its last. Audi’s push towards full electrification also includes the A4, which, according to the company , will be an electric car by the end of this decade. The next-gen A4 could be able to preempt this transition by offering a fully-electric A4 Etron variant along with the final combustion engine models. This is not ruled out.
Audi will electrify its diesel and gas engines in response to tightening emission regulations. Audi will offer a plug in hybrid version of the B10 A4 that will be high-performance RS4. It is possible that Audi will replace the model’s manual transmission with the next generation. Audi has not yet announced the debut date for the new , but we expect it to be in 2023. The wagon variant was captured by our spy photographers, but the sedan has yet to be seen. As the B10 A4 is still in development, we expect to see the four-door variant soon. This model will be the last of the combustion engines, as the industry moves towards fully electric vehicles.
