Porsche continues to develop the sedan in preparation for its global unveiling.
It’s not hard to see that Porsche has been making a lot of money with the Taycan. In fact, it even outsold the iconic 911 in 2021. Porsche seems to be keeping the Panamera’s nameplate alive despite the fact that the electric sedan’s success would have been devastating for the Panamera.
Porsche has been working on a new model and spy photographers have seen the test mules displaying the major changes on the track. We have seen the Panamera’s next model’s mules in public areas. Since over a year ago However, the changes are now much more apparent and visible.
This new Porsche Panamera Mule is sporting changes to the fuel cap, headlights and door handles. These are all things that you won’t find on facelifted models. This prototype also has a hidden rear side window, which indicates that it will be modified. Meanwhile, the slimmer taillights and front fenders are showing signs of an update.
We believe we are not dealing with a facelifted Panamera; a complete, new-generation overhaul is likely. This is especially true when you consider the interior spy photos that we have seen recently.
The Panamera’s new cabin took design cues from Taycan. This is not surprising. The automatic transmission didn’t have a gear lever, but the controls and layout were taken from the electric sedan.
Porsche will offer the next Panamera with an updated and more powerful gasoline engine along with mild-hybrid technology. A plug-in hybrid version of the Panamera will be offered for those who don’t want to go full electrification. This is said to have larger batteries and better pure electric range.
The arrival of the new Panamera has not been announced. The new Panamera will arrive in 2023, due to the extensive testing Porsche does on all new models.
