Mercedes will electrify the Mercedes-Benz model with mild hybrids and PHEVs.
The rumors are true. Mercedes will unveil the next-generation GLC crossover in June. The preview of the new model’s debut is provided by Mercedes. Although it doesn’t show much, a few adjustments in the photo editor reveal quite some of its styling.
The new GLC It draws its design inspiration from C-Class’s new C-Class, which is not surprising considering the two share the same underpinnings. Mercedes According to the GLC, the new GLC will feature a digital cockpit with “extensive stock equipment” and a “variable area,” likely featuring sliding second-row chairs. The brand’s MBUX infotainment systems will be included.
The GLC will also use powertrains from , the new C-Class. Electrification is a key part of them. Mercedes offers both mild-hybrid as well as plug-in hybrid versions. Mercedes will offer three PHEVs. They will have a range of more than 62 miles (100 km) and can reach speeds of 148 miles an hour (238 km per hour) using only the electric motor. Mercedes will make the 4Matic all-wheel drive system standard in the GLC lineup.
GLC’s new platform allows the crossover to grow in size. This means that it has more trunk space and more legroom. Mercedes offers rear-wheel steering as an option and air suspension to help drivers cope with that extra length.
We had the opportunity to test drive the prototype earlier this year and were impressed by the new GLC’s potential for a significant upgrade to the current-generation model. This popular model will include a lot more standard technology than the current-generation model. There are also many options, such as the 360-degree camera.
Mercedes will first unveil the GLC regular variants, then the AMG high-output versions. The crossover will debut on June 1, at 5 p.m. CEST (11:01 AM ET). ET, but we expect the US-spec version will get a separate reveal. While the GLC could be available in Europe by September, US sales are likely to begin later. Mercedes will also launch an all-electric EQC SUV version, which will be on the same EV platform as the EQC sedan.
