Cadillac will debut its Project GTP endurance racing car on June 9. A teaser image accompanying the unveiling of Cadillac’s Project GTP endurance race car can be seen. It runs between the front and rear fenders.
A teaser video previously showed even more of Cadillac Project GTP. The car features vertically-oriented headlights at the outer corners. Another flying buttress attaches the rear fender to the body. The fin that runs along the rear deck connects to the wing.
“While the new racecar will take into consideration IMSA/ACO regulations, Cadillac’s brand characteristics will instantly be recognizable, many which are seen today on our V-Series cars,” Chris Mikalauskas (lead exterior creative designer at Cadillac), stated in an earlier teaser.
For the Cadillac Project GTP, powertrain details are not available yet. Hybrid assistance is required by class rules. Dallara is building a race car’s chassis according to Motorsport.com.
The Cadillac will race in the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which will be held at the Rolex 24 in Daytona. Porsche seems to have made the most progress in developing its LMDh entry. It has already tested the machine at multiple tracks across Europe. Only information available about the powertrain is that it’s a twin-turbo hybrid V8. The automaker plans to race the vehicle in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship once it is complete.
