This thing is huge.
It’s not the first time that we’ve seen the Hyundai Palisade, an eight-seat SUV. We spotted the family hauler in April. The exterior was camouflaged in heavy camouflage. New spy photos taken in Arizona show the Palisade’s front clip, which gives us a glimpse at the grille design and front fascia.
The lower fascia opening is something new that we haven’t seen before. The lower fascia also has some design elements. Because we can now see more of the headlight units, and less of their grille is covered, they are larger. The Hyundai emblem is hidden in a large circular area at the top of the grille. The Palisade appears to be a combination of the 2019 Santa Fe design and the Grandmaster.
Hyundai is creating the Palisade along with Kia’s large SUV, the Telluride. There are many similarities. Both should look the same when they go into production. Hyundai’s Palisade is still in its early stages. A three-row Santa FeXL will hit the market in 2019. It will be replaced by the Palisade, which will become the brand’s most popular SUV.
A 3.3-liter V6 engine producing 290 horsepower should be under the hood, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Kia Telluride concept was powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor. It produced 400 combined horsepower when it was introduced by Kia. A biturbocharged version could be offered for the Palisade, which can produce 365 horsepower. The engine should have plenty of space under the hood. It is the same engine as in the Genesis G80 luxury models and G90.
The Hyundai Palisade will be competing with the Ford Expedition and Chevrolet Suburban when it is brought to dealers. The official debut should be in 2019, with a production version expected to follow in 2020.
