The quad exhaust tips are a bit too small.

We are less then a month away seeing the first-ever Mid-Engined Corvette in person. That is, in the flesh without camouflage, though our friends Chazcron and FVS at MidEngineCorvetteForum.com have spent the better part of a year digitally peeling back the wrap from spy photos. Two Photoshop experts collaborated on a few renderings of the C8 Corvette from its rear. This area has not been given as much attention.

Three renderings are total. One shows the batwing spoiler, which we have seen on many prototypes, and one has a subtle, subtle lip spoiler. The third image shows the car placed on roads close to the Nurburgring. Digital pros are meticulous and don’t overlook a single detail. Even the license plate of the manufacturer and the USA sticker on the rendering match an actual C8 spy web video taken last September in the Green Hell.

It’s possible that there is a joke about drivers seeing the new Corvette more than any other side. The base trim level should not be a disappointment in terms of performance. It will launch with either a new DOHC engine V8 or the current 6.2 liter LT1, and horsepower is expected to be close to 500. This alone should propel the C8 to 60 mph in under four seconds. But the real beast on the tarmac will be revealed later. Rumours suggest that a mid-level twin-turbocharged Corvette could have 700 horsepower. A hybrid version might add around 1,000 horsepower. reports that C8 frames are twisting under the force were actually confirmed by the underworld.

The official launch date of the C8 Corvette has been confirmed. All details will be made public at an exclusive launch event in Tustin (California) on July 18.
