Bentley Teases Rally-Ready Continental GT From Austria

It is likely to go skiing.

Bentley posted an unsubtle picture to its Twitter account Saturday. It shows a bright blue Continental GT, which looks more at home on a rally course than in a yacht club lot. Bentley said that details are being kept secret, but we can see some oddities on the blue Continental GT, which is better suited for a rally course than the yacht club parking lot.

The large Bomber decal at the door is one of the most important clues to Bentley’s intentions. It is a U.S. ski company and a Bentley collaborator. The tweet from Bentley was posted one day before the conclusion to the 2020 Hahnenkamm Alpine Ski World Cup, Kitzbuhel (Austria), where the photo was taken). Bomber’s social media accounts revealed a second photograph of the Continental GT, but this time from a different angle (the Instagram embed below).

This is the view of the ski rack at the top. It has a light bar at its front. C. Munnings is next to a British flag. It is likely Catie Munnings (22-year-old British rally driver) who appears in it. She started her career in 2016 in the European Rally Championship.

It wouldn’t have been the first time that a set of wheels had arrived on the slopes for motoring fun. A MotoGP bike climbed the slope in 2017, one year after Red Bull had upset Austrian authorities by doing the same thing with an F1 car. It seems that now it is Bentley’s turn.

There are many other modifications to the Continental GT. It is possible that the red tow hook pokes out from the lower grille. The bright-blue livery, decals and stickers from Mobil 1, Pirelli and other companies all hint at some kind of competition. There’s also the raised suspension. The wheel wells and rubber are more spaced than on a standard Bentley. Black plastic cladding is applied to the fenders. The tires have a deep tread design, which makes them very grippy in slippery conditions.

People who bet should expect Bentley to tackle the 2020 Hahnenkamm Alpine Ski World Cup course tomorrow. Perhaps the company will also set a new record.
