237.8 MPH: The Nissan Qashqai, a 2,000 HP SUV, is the fastest in the world

It has overtaken the 230-mph Toyota Land Cruiser.

Severn Valley Motorsport is a UK-based tuning company that specializes in upgrading Nissan GT-Rs. Godzilla’s engine was originally used in a personal project years ago by engineers who decided to fit it into an engine bay of a first generation Nissan Qashqai. (current model sold in America as the Rouge Sport). The Qashqai-R, which had 1,100 horsepower and roughly the same torque, was created.

This was in 2014, when Top Gearmagazine published an article on the supercar-engined compact crossover. Since then, the vehicle has undergone many upgrades. According to the tuner, the Qasqhai’s engine is now “heavily forged” and has a new turbo-kit that can produce a staggering 2,000 horsepower. Why? SVM sought to be the fastest SUV in the World, a title that was previously held by Toyota and its 2,000-hp Land Cruiser at 230 mph (370 km/h).

The Qashqai R has become the new speed king. It hit an amazing 237.8mph (382.7 km/h) at the VMax 200 event, which was held on a private runway of two miles. Even though the Qashqai-R managed to surpass an Agera RS at 221.3 mph (356 kph), it is known that Koenigsegg can drive a hypercar at a higher speed.

This insane Qashqai does not have the GT-R’s extremely tunable engine. There’s also the crazy JUKE-R. Although it was limited in production and expensive, two versions were made.
