Ford F-150 police responds faster than any other police vehicle

This is based on recent tests done by law enforcement agencies.

Ford has updated the F-150 Police Responder extensively for the 2021 model-year. The engine is more powerful and the transfer case is equipped with an automatic four-wheel-drive setting. The automaker announced that the pursuit-ready truck has a faster top speed of 120 mph (197 km/h) than the previous model. It’s significantly faster than the previous version.

Recent tests conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LA County Police) and the Michigan State Police show that the F-150 Police Responder can accelerate to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 5.4 seconds. This makes it “at most” 0.4 seconds faster then any other vehicle tested. The 2021 F150 pursuit vehicle was able to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph (0-160 km/h) in just 13.1 seconds, which is 0.8 seconds quicker than its nearest competitor.

Another test showed that the truck can run a quarter mile in 14.4 seconds, which is a full second quicker than the previous model year. They were also able confirm that the claimed top speed of the 2021 F-150 Police Responder was accurate.

Greg Ebel, Ford brand manager for police vehicles, says that vehicle acceleration and speed are important factors in how quickly first responders arrive on an emergency scene. Even a fraction of a second can make a difference in response times. Law enforcement officers can rely on 2021 F150 Police Responder to quickly get them there, whether they are responding to an accident on the highways or to a distress call from somewhere else.

These impressive numbers can be attributed to the twin-turbo 3.5-liter twin engine under the hood. It produces 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts), and 500 pound-feet (678 Newton meters) of torque. This power is transferred to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. The FX4 offroad package is also available as standard on the pursuit-rated truck.
