The car’s exterior features include a charging port, quad exhausts, and a trunk.

Today’s focus is on the new CClass in Mercedes Land, but we take a break to get a better look at the first ever electrified S63. AMG has added a charging port for its fast luxobarge, and it didn’t bother to conceal it on the prototype captured in Sweden. It is located on the driver’s side on the rear fender. It has the same shape as the traditional gasoline tank cap.

We are curious as to why the test car has mismatched wheels. Another aspect that we are puzzled by is the presence of dice on the interior rearview mirror. We’re afraid that we won’t ever know the answer. The prototype camouflaged only the new bumpers that accommodate larger intakes at each end and quad exhausts at both the rear and front.

The W223-based model doesn’t appear any more aggressive than other S63 models. The Panamericanagrille that it deserves is finally being given to the car, which should make it easy to identify among the S-Class models. There are many upgrades that can be spotted if you look closely, such as the larger brakes and lower ground clearance due to stiffening the suspension.

The next AMG C63 will replace the V8 with a four-cylinder engine that has a hybrid assist. However, the new S63 will likely retain the eight-cylinder engine and include a lot of electrification. The combined output of the gasoline engine with the electric motor is estimated to be approximately 700 horsepower. Talks are even afoot of an S73e with 800 horsepower to replace the V12-powered AMG S65.

The twin-turbo, 6.0-liter powerhouse will still be available in the new S-Class if you choose the Maybach variant which will offer all-wheel drive for first time. Although nothing is confirmed, we expect the S63e will be available with AWD. While electrification will provide a low-end boost, the adoption of a hybrid PHEV system is more about making sure the S63 meets strict emission regulations.

Mercedes and AMG may reveal their identity in the next few months, considering they have already removed the majority of the disguise.
