It may not be available until 2023.
We have spy photos of the Volkswagen Aero B all electric sedan. The new car isn’t much different than the one that came before it. Although the sedan appears to be a five door liftback, spy photos capture it in a new location: It’s cold-weather testing north of Sweden.
Unfortunately, the spy photos don’t show anything new. Aero D’s misleading coverings make it seem like the model has a traditional grille, and other styling cues. But they are just visual tricks. The fake grille is covered with masking tape. The Aero B draws inspiration from the IDSpace Vizzion concept that Volkswagen presented at the 2019 LA Auto Show. It was originally introduced as a wagon. The Aero B could be offered in two body styles by VW when it goes on sale.
The Aero B will be next to the diesel-powered Passat in Volkswagen’s growing lineup. The brand’s MEB platform will be used. There are both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive versions. VW can achieve four-wheel propulsion using a dual motor configuration just like the all-electric VW ID. models. The future model should include a GTX version that is sportier. It is still unknown what the model’s range and expected output numbers will be.
The model’s tentative name is Aero B. VW could change it to conform to its ID naming convention. It may debut in late 2023 or early 2023. It is not known when the model will be available for sale. It will be competing against other Evs such as the Tesla Model 3 and the Polestar2. It makes perfect sense that automakers are expanding beyond the all-electric crossovers.
