Mercedes To Create AMG, Maybach, and G-Class New Business Group

In the last year, there has been a lot happening in the business structure and strategy at Mercedes–Benz. These movements are part and parcel of Ola Kallenius, Daimler CEO,’s strategy to concentrate on high-margin products.

Daimler, Mercedes’ parent company, is now reportedly poised to make another move. It’s happening this calendar year. According to the German newspaper Automobilwoche According to Automotive News The automaker plans to launch a new business group that includes AMG, Maybach and G-Class. The announcement will also be made at the Munich Auto Show in September.

Automobilwoche a spokesperson for Daimler stated that the move would reduce marketing costs and strengthen the three subbrands which are an important pillar of the new strategy. AMG stands for Mercedes’ performance division, while Maybach focuses more on luxury brands such as Bentley and Rolls Royce. G-Class is the luxury line of off-road luxury vehicles from the Three-Pointed Star.

The spokesperson for Daimler said that they would not only preserve the autonomy, strong identities, and developed corporate cultures of individual brands but also expand and sharpen them.

A spokesperson stated that the company was currently designing the new business group and evaluating the potential in different areas. The AMG boss Philipp Schiemer is expected to take over as the leader, although that is not yet confirmed.

We are still waiting to learn more about the formal corporate structure for the new business group. According to Automobilwoche, there are no plans to spin-off the new group after it is established.
