Lexus IS F hits the Autobahn To Reach Very Close to Its Top Speed

The IS F sounds amazing.

In 2007, the Lexus IS F was introduced as the brand’s first sports sedan capable of competing with the BMW M3, and AMG variants the Mercedes C-Class. AutoTopNL showcases the performance of this old model on the autobahn in this video.

The IS F is powered by the naturally aspirated, 5.0-liter V8 engine 2UR-GSE. The engine’s performance is maximized with Yamaha-designed cylinder heads. It produces 416 horsepower (310 Kilowatts) as well as 371 pound-feet (503 Newton-meters).

Only one gearbox option was available: an eight-speed manual. The vehicle has a manual shifting mode that uses paddles behind its steering wheel. This video shows it.

It sounds great, with a powerful sound at lower revs and a crisper, more direct sound when the rpms reach the limiter.

This video shows a simple sprint of 100 km/h (62 miles/hr) for the first run. The GPS displays a time of 5.05 seconds. Lexus claims that the ISF can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.6 seconds.

After a few passes with the camera to capture the exhaust and other road noises, the IS F finally reaches its top speed. It takes 5.16 seconds to reach 62 MPH. It takes 13.06 seconds to complete the quarter-mile. It takes 16.39 seconds to reach 124 mph (200 km/h). It takes 20.21 seconds to complete the half-mile.

The GPS flashes briefly at 268 kph (166.5 MPH). The official speed of the Lexus IS F is 170mph (273.6 km/h), which is just short of the model’s Vmax. This sedan may be capable of reaching the top speed with just a bit more road.
