Comedian Jeff Dunham owns it.
Jeff Dunham isn’t the only comedian who considers himself a car enthusiast. But he has a collection of almost 100 cars. His latest addition is a unique collection of both real cars and Hollywood car stars. Supercar Blondie’s latest episode features Dunham driving his massive SUV with gullwing door down the street to meet actor and TV host Xzibit.
The Chariot is a massive space rover that stars in the Netflix series ” Lost in Space”. The show is in its third iteration. Its first version aired in 1965. A movie adaptation was made in 1998. The Chariot cost $1.2million and features massive hydraulically-powered gullwing doors. Although it looks amazing from 20 feet away, closer inspection reveals that it is a movie prop. Although the exterior is beautiful, much of it doesn’t serve any practical purpose.
It can also move, however it is a movie prop. The LS3 V8 from GM produces 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts), which makes it a great prop for the show. Although it has plenty of power for the road, Supercar Blondie couldn’t get it to go fast enough – it is not street legal and it’s had some issues. Hydraulic fluid leaked into the driver’s footwell, making the pedals slippery.
Dunham was interested in the Chariot because he had the original Chariot from the TV series. The original Chariot was built on a snowcat, and had tank treads. Although it doesn’t have the futuristic look that the new one has, both are remarkable pieces to add to a collection. This video shows the vehicle in action, demonstrating the space-age stylings and quirkiness associated with making Hollywood props.
