2022 VW Golf GTI Debuts in America for $29,545, Golf R costs $43,645

Both will be available for purchase in the fourth quarter 2021.

Official pricing and information has been released about the American-spec 2022 Golf GTI, and GolfR. Both will be available in the United States during the fourth quarter 2021.

The European models have a similar powertrain specification. GTI’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces 241 horsepower (180 Kilowatts) as well as 273 pound-feet (373 Newton-meters). You can choose between a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder is also available in the Golf R. The engine produces 315 horsepower (235 kW) as well as 295 lbft (400 Nm), with the DSG, and 280 lbft (680 Nm) when the six-speed manual is used. These numbers are slightly different from the European-spec Golf R, which has 310 Lb-ft (420Nm). This is due to the difference in fuel quality between the two regions.

GTI is available in exterior colors Oryx White Pearl and Moonstone Gray, Kings Red metallic, Atlantic Blue Metallics, Reflex silver Metallics, Deep Black Pearl, and Kings Red Metallic. Pomelo Yellow metallic is available only for the Autobahn trim. The Golf R is available in Lapiz Blue Metallic and Pure White.

The GTI S trim starts at $29 545 (plus a $995 delivery fee) for a six-speed manual transmission or $30,345 for a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The standard model comes with LED lighting for the foglights and headlights. The driver can see a digital instrument cluster measuring 10.25 inches and an 8.25 inch infotainment display. Heating is available for the steering wheel and front seats.

Next is the SE grade, which costs $34,295 manual and $355,095 DSG. The SE grade adds a sunroof and adaptive headlights to the vehicle. Active cornering is also available for the foglights. Navigation is available on the infotainment screen, which can grow to 10.0 inches. A Harman/Kardon nine-speaker stereo is available. The leather seats come with power adjustment and ventilation for the driver. They cost $1,225. For $395, 18-inch gloss black wheels are available.

GTI Autobahn is available in manual and DSG versions for $37,995 and $38,795 respectively. Additional equipment includes adaptive dampers and 19 inch wheels with summer performance tires. There are front seats with Vienna leather upholstery and ventilated ventilation. The power adjustment for the driver’s seat is 12-way. These features include a three-zone automatic climate controller with rear-seat controls, and a head up display.

The all-wheel-drive Golf R comes in one trim, which costs $43,645 for a manual and $44,445 if you choose the DSG. The fully loaded model includes adaptive dampers and 14-inch drilled brake discs with blue calipers. The roof has a wing that attaches at the rear. It is mounted on 19-inch wheels.

There’s also a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch infotainment screen with navigation. A head-up display is also available. Standard equipment includes a sunroof. Nappa leather-upholstered seats with heating are provided for both the front and back.
