Finally, here’s a glimpse of what you can expect behind the wheel.
The Toyota Tundra has been completely redesigned for the 2022 model-year. Although the truck’s details are still unknown, they look familiar with the spy photos, the leak photos and Toyota’s seemingly endless teaser campaign . We have yet another piece to the puzzle, but this time it is truly something new. The interior of the Tundra is now visible.
This is part inside the Tundra. We just received a new set of Tundra spy photos. Some of them show portions of the Tundra’s dash that are visible for all to see. This is important because it shows something different from Toyota’s latest interior teaser. The image below left showed a large central infotainment screen that reached above the dash. However, the spy photo (below center) shows a smaller screen that is firmly placed in the dash. We believe that this Tundra is either a lower or mid-level Tundra, rather than the higher-end models Toyota has been teasing.
These spy shots may also show a standard cluster of instruments instead of a digital one, but the angle of these images makes it difficult for us to know. The display’s center stack is full of buttons, so anyone expecting a minimalistic design will be disappointed. The dash’s design features, which include large vents and large geometric shapes, are similar to those used by Detroit automakers. Toyota Interior aesthetics seems to be all about blending in with the rest.
The interior spy photos come with exterior images that show two fully camouflaged trucks. Although Toyota has already shown the Tundra’s exterior design a few weeks ago, that image was only a frontal view. We haven’t seen the Tundra at the back yet, so we expect other Tundra trims to have their own features. Although much has been shown, there is still much to see.
When will the covers finally fall off? Toyota is not yet able to give a time, but we are certain it will happen sometime this year. We think Toyota would be wise to make the official announcement, considering all that’s been published about the Tundra.
