Aston Martin Boosts DB11V8, Drops Superleggera and AMR Names

The company strategy for 2022 includes a simpler lineup and more oomph in the DB11

Aston Martin has made some minor changes to its lineup in 2022. This includes the introduction of an online configurator that allows you to see these updates in action. Aston Martin has made some minor changes to its lineup, including more power for the DB11V8, new wheel options and a reduction in the number of nameplates ‘Superleggera and ‘AMR’.

The biggest changes are welcome to the DB11 coupe or convertible models that come with the base V8. Twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter engines now produce 528 horsepower (394 Kilowatts), and a top speed of 192 mph (308 km/h). This is 25 more horsepower than the previous year’s model. To help with that extra speed, buyers can now choose the DB11 V8 with Sports Plus Seats.

The DB11 V12 Coupe retains the same 630 hp (475 kW), but loses its AMR label. The DBS also suffers the same fate. It loses its Superleggera badge but keeps its twin-turbocharged V12 of 5.2-liters. This engine still produces 715 horsepower (533 kW) at its top speed of 215 mph (340 kmh). Aston Martin claims that simplifying the lineup is possible by removing the Superleggera and AMR badges.

Visual updates include 21-inch wheel designs on the DBS and a new set of 23-inch wheels for the DBX SUV. The new configurator allows buyers to choose from three pre-made interior environments, each with carefully selected colors, materials and patterns, each created by Aston Martin Design.

The “Inspire” environment is high-end luxury. It features perforated semianiline leather and contrast stitching. There are up to 38 interior color options. The name ‘Accelerate’ refers to a sportier theme that features a unique leather-alcantara combination, as well as up to 10 leather color options with four accent colors. With 10 interior color options, both in monotone or duotone, the ‘Create” theme offers a different perspective.

The Aston Martin configurator allows you to see the new colors and wheel options online. Although pricing has not been officially announced yet for the 2022 model-year vehicles, don’t expect any major changes to last year.
