It features a 2+2+3 cabin.
Hyundai and Kia are expanding their minivan range with new products like the Staria and Carnival. These might help to lure potential buyers away from an SUV. The Custo, the larger of the two South Korean brands, is currently in development. It will be unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 27th.
You may have already guessed that Hyundai’s new minivan is a China-exclusive affair. However, we won’t stop talking about it when a teaser comes out. The interior has been revealed after a preview of its exterior design was made earlier in the week. We have adjusted the brightness to make it more visible. You’re not the only one feeling a Tucson vibe. It appears that the steering wheel was borrowed from the compact crossover, from which the MPV also inherits the switchgear.
The interior of the Hyundai Custo features a 2+2+3 layout with captain’s seats for the second row. It also has a floating centre console and a 10.4 inch touchscreen. These are arranged in portrait mode and are flanked by touch-sensitive shortcut buttons. Although the digital instrument cluster of the Tucson is a little out of the dashboard, it’s well integrated within the minivan.
The Beijing Hyundai joint venture has not yet provided technical specifications, but we are hearing that the Custo rides on a similar platform to the Tucson and offers a choice of 1.5- or 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine options. The first is capable of 167 horsepower (125kilowatts) as well as 187 pound-feet (253 Newton-meters) torque, while the second is capable of generating 233 hp (173 kW) or 260 lb (353 Nm).
Hyundai’s new minivan will be available with either an eight-speed auto or a seven speed, dual-clutch “box,” depending on the engine option. Both send power exclusively to its front axle. It measures 4,950 millimeters (194.9 in) in length, 1,850mm (72.9 inches) in width, and 1,734mm (68.2 inch) high. The wheelbase measures 3055mm (120.2 inches). It rides on standard 18-inch wheels.
The Custo will be available in China after its debut at the end next month to compete with the Buick , Honda Odyssey and the Honda Odyssey.
