Mercedes has told dealers that CLE will replace two-door C and E: Report

According to reports, it will go on sale in 2023’s first half.

Utilities are still in high demand in America, not just in the mainstream but also in premium segments. Mercedes-Benz is dependent on its SUV lineup, so it decided to reduce its sedan and coupe product lines. C-Class and E-Class convertible and coupe versions of the C-Class and E-Class are now rumored to be in decline and will be replaced by the so-called CLE-Class. German luxury automaker Mercedes has already told its US dealers that the CLE will soon be available to replace the C and E. After a meeting of national dealers last month, a dealer said that there was not enough demand for three coupes. “So it wasn’t logical to reinvest billions of dollars to refresh any of those.

The CLE will be officially launched later in the year. It will go on sale in 2023 with a single electrified 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine. A full-fledged AMG version of the CLE is expected to debut later in the year. It will use a 2.0-liter engine with electrical support, just like the C63 . However, Mercedes dealers aren’t optimistic about the market because the coupe-crossovers already have a significant share of the pie.

Automotive News was told by a dealer that utility vehicles appeal to a larger market. Younger buyers love the ability to toss their gear in the back and older buyers like the ease of getting in to the vehicle. The MRA-2 platform will allow the first-ever CLE to have proportions that are similar to the C-Class. It will also come with a fabric roof. Mercedes has not yet confirmed rumors of a coupe version. Production is expected to begin before the end this year at the company’s Bremen plant.
