In this Mopar muscle battle, it’s brother against brother.
Team Mejo has a tendency to show us drag races we didn’t want to see. We mean that we wouldn’t actively search for these races or request to see them. We always feel like we have learned something new after watching them.
This video features a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a Dodge Challenger 392. This video is intended to show how fast the Hellcat is. While the Hellcat is stock, the SRT 392 has been tuned and has had its catalytic converters removed. Evidently, Saudi Arabia doesn’t have emission testing! It’s not the best place to be environmentalists but it seems like a good enough place for enthusiasts of horsepower.
A stock Challanger 392 SRT has 485 horsepower. We’re certain that the bright green Challanger is breathing easier thanks to the exhaust work and the tune. There is still a significant difference between a SRT 392 with mildly reworked suspension and a Hellcat with 707 horsepower. When all is said and done, we’re likely to see a difference between a mildly worked-over SRT 392 and a 707 horsepower Hellcat.
Although the race takes place on a drag strip it is not a regular drag race. Street racing is the preferred method of racing. Both cars accelerate to 50 mph and race from a roll. The SRT 392 is able to hold its own against the Hellcat at first. The Hellcat starts to pull away slowly, but then it becomes more steady.
After all was said and done, the Hellcat appears to have won by three cars lengths. This is a large margin but it’s an impressive performance by the SRT392 which put up a great fight. We are eagerly waiting for the next Team Mejo drag race.
