Lada will continue her model offensive with a third generation of the Niva4x4 which will be released in 2018. The Russian car market is suffering a significant drop in its sales. However, Lada has launched the new Vesta as well as the XRay models. A new Niva 4×4 offroader, the Niva 4, will join them in autumn 2018. The SUV was expected to be available for launch in late 2016, but a Russian media report suggests it will be delayed by nearly two years.
Izvestia says the model will be available in three- and five door versions. Both models have a large boot lid. According to preliminary rumors, the Niva 4×4 will receive a new, more powerful engine. It will replace the current 1.7-liter petrol unit that produces 83 horsepower. It will be mated with a manual gearbox as well as a permanent all-wheel-drive system.
It was believed that the model might also be equipped with a Renault-sourced diesel engine, although this information is not yet confirmed. Russian media also reported that the Niva 4×4 will be available alongside the current-generation SUV when it arrives on the markets.
