BMW will soon introduce touchscreen technology to its flagship X5 SUV and X6 SUV models. The 7Serie sedan was originally designed by Bavaria and featured a touchscreen display. BMW Blog now claims that the X5/X6 SUVs will be able to use this technology. The update to the navigation system will be available late in the summer, but the vehicles won’t get the gesture control technology of the 7 Series. It is likely to be available in the next generation X5 or X6. BMW will continue to equip the SUVs equipped with the iDrive controller mounted on the center console.
The 2016 7 Series’ touch control display functions much like a tablet, or mobile device. It uses different touch commands such as swipe, scroll pinch-zoom and drag. According to the report, the screen will be updated in the near future for the X5 and X6M. BMW has yet to confirm the report, as it is not official.
